Happy New Year Moose Family,
I hope you all had good holidays with your loved ones.
LOOM members, you should have received a post card for a special meeting on January 9th. This meeting will review the financial needs of the lodge and a vote will be held for getting an equity line on the property to complete the projects reviewed. In December we had some sewer problems leading to a costly repair that has taxed our bank account. Remember, we are on a septic tank and only toilet paper should be placed in the toilet. We have lots of napkins and feminine products clogging the lines and filling up the tank.
In December we had our annual fundraiser dinner for Valley Churches. It was a great evening and member Chuck Cheatham matched our donation to VCUM. Thank you, Chuck, for your generosity!
We got the updated plans for the parking lot from the engineering firm, which again were over engineered. We met a representative on site and reviewed the revisions required so we can get the changes submitted to the county for approval for work in the spring.
I'm sure you have all noticed the cost of your own grocery bill climbing. Even getting a burger at a fast food restaurant will cost you over $10 for a meal. We too are having major cost impacts on food. Dominic has been doing what he can to shop for the best price on supplies, but we still have significant increases. You will see some changes in the future on meals prices. Unfortunately, we are required to do this in order to survive.
In February we have a special dinner planned for Valentine’s Day that is a fundraiser for the Autism Family Network. This will be a full course Italian dinner including 3 dessert courses. Kissed by an Angel Wines has signed up to serve wine. In 2018 the CDC determined that an estimated 1 in 59 children is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. ASD is more prevalent in boys, 1 in 37, and 1 in 151 in girls. The cost to raise a child with ASD is 4 to 6 times greater than those without. 90 percent of the children with Autism, that die under the age of 14, drown. That is not a typo (90 percent)! I'm sure most of you know someone impacted by Autism. Please join me in helping raise money for this group. A full menu and prices will be posted shortly at the lodge.
I hope you all have a blessed and prosperous new year!
